首届美国华人大会，期待您的支持与参与！

亲爱的美国华人朋友们，
以下是来自美国三十一个州的一百三十多个华人社团在此发出的共同心声：我们支持和响应“美国华人全国委员会”（United Chinese Americans “UCA”）倡议和发起的今年九月八日至十日在首都华盛顿举办的首届“美国华人大会”。
自从十九世纪中叶广东大批华工来美， 半个世纪前港澳台大量华人举家赴美，以及中国大陆改革开放后大批大陆学人负笈留学新大陆，华人在美走过了一个多世纪的艰辛，荣耀与梦想。今天，我们无论在人口，工商，文化，科技和政治等领域都有了显著的发展和提升，美国华人正在成为美国社会中一支渐有影响力的中坚力量。
然而我们华人社区的现状并不完全令人满意，这尤其体现在我们对社区，公益，和政治等公共事务方面相对缺乏热情和参与。具体看来，我们华人社区在诸多方面依然是中山先生所说的“散沙一盘”；我们依然被大陆政治，台海独统议题和美国两党政治所困扰甚至撕裂；华人社区依然因我们各自祖籍国和历史经历的不同而无法充分发挥潜能；我们和许多其他族裔相比差距依然显著；最后，作为能够沟通美中两个世界大国的桥梁，我们还远远没有发挥和作出我们对人类进步与和平应有的潜力和贡献。
这一切，都急切地呼唤着我们应从自己做起，从今年总统选举年做起, 让各界和各州关注华人社会未来的朋友们，华人政治和社区领袖们，父母家长们，以及我们的下一代们能够相聚一堂，凝聚共识，共商大计，推动华人社区和美国社会的进步。
这是美国华人全国委员会的使命, 这也应是我们全体华人的使命。我们在此感谢美国华人全国委员会为全美华人社区提供的这一难得的相互学习，相互激励，推动华人社区发展的平台。这将也是华人社区协调共进的一个历史契机。
