向为华抗战及捐躯的美军将士致敬！UCA推出“美国华人永志不忘”行动计划

来自首都华盛顿最新消息，UCA（美国华人联合会）近期推出“美国华人永志不忘”（Chinese Americans Remember）行动计划，向第二次世界大战期间在中缅印战区（CBI）中为中国抗日战争的胜利英勇作战的数万美军，以及牺牲的三千多名美军将士们致敬！
二战期间，在中缅印战区（CBI），有三千多名美军将士们战死沙场，至今依然长眠在异国他乡的丛山峻岭、荒野高原和泱泱大海中。这些将士来自多个抗战部队，主要包括：中国远征军、飞虎队、美国陆军航空兵、驼峰航线上的运输和轰炸部队、建造中印公路的工程兵部队、远东海军部队，以及著名的麦瑞尔突击队等。

美国华人将永远不会忘记那些用自己的生命和鲜血来帮助中国人民抗击日本侵略的那些年轻的美国战士们。那是一段令中美两国人民饱受伤痛的悲壮历史，那是让子孙后代为之骄傲的人文记忆，值得世世代代永久地赞美、珍藏和传承。
为此，UCA推出的“美国华人永志不忘”特别行动计划，旨在让这样一种神圣庄严、永生不息的集体记忆，向中缅印的二战英雄及其家属致以慰问和敬意，以此促进和推动美中两国人民的友谊和人类的和平发展。
据悉，UCA将推出以下四项具体行动计划：
1. UCA将为包括中缅印战区在喜马拉雅地区失踪的大约2500名美国将士提供私人搜索援助，并与中美两国政府合作，加强两国在搜索工作中的合作；
2. UCA将在包括美国华人社区在内的任何地方募集资金，为在中缅印战场中失去亲人，以及在为华抗战中做出独特贡献的军属家庭和后裔设立“大学生奖学金”；
3. UCA将号召和协调美国各地的华人社区，每年在清明时节或美国阵亡将士纪念日，在全美各地的公墓中举行纪念仪式，向为参与了帮助中国抗战胜利，特别是为此牺牲了的美军阵亡将士致敬；
4. UCA将与一些老兵组织建立和协调一个新的国会游说联盟，呼吁和引导美国国会和军方采取更为积极主动的方式，协助搜寻在喜马拉雅山地区牺牲的美军阵亡将士，让更多的牺牲将士能安葬在美国故土，在家乡长眠安息。

“Chinese Americans Remember”
—— UCA program to pay tribute to American heroes in WWII China Burma India Theater
Chinese and Chinese Americans will never forget those young Americans who sacrificed their lives to help China against Japanese aggression. The suffering, sacrifice and ultimate triumph over Japanese imperialism by China and US are intimately intertwined with each other, providing a heroic human story for generations to appreciate and remember.
UCA’s program “Chinese Americans Remember” is designed to immortalize such sacred memory, pay tribute to those heroes and their families, and help bring peace and prosperity between the United States and China, in today’s uncertain world.
“Chinese Americans Remember” has four related program components:
1. UCA will sponsor private search missions for lost airmen in Himalaya mountain region covering India, Burma, and China. Additionally, UCA will work with both Chinese and American government to enhance cooperation between the two countries for such search missions;
2. UCA will raise fund among Chinese American community or anywhere to set up scholarships for offsprings of American servicemen who made outstanding contribution assisting China during WWII or college-bound children in those veteran families who have had a family member lost in China Burma India Theater;
3. UCA federation will lead and coordinate our community’s efforts to pay annual tribute to those heroes in their cemeteries across the country on Qingming Holiday (also known as the Chinese Memorial Day) or Memorial Day;
4. UCA will help establish and co-lead a new Congressional lobbying coalition to advocate a far more proactive approach toward MIA search and recovery mission so that more heroes will go back home.
