Sherry Huang

Parent Ambassador

Sherry worked as a K-12 Mandarin Chinese teacher at two top private schools in the South: Providence Day School and St. Mary’s Episcopal School. She also served as a student advisor, Chinese Language and Culture Club Advisor, and Diversity and Global Awareness Club sponsor. 

Sherry is an active volunteer in her communities. She was a teacher for the AWANA program at her local church and started a care group for newcomers. She was also played an instrumental role as part of the team that helped elect the first Chinese-American member of City Council. Sherry has coordinated several UCA youth programs including UCA summer internships, summer leadership training and youth mental health programs. She is currently working  on a multi-year youth mental health Project, WAVES, as a correspondent and parents ambassador. Her first article on WAVES attracted more than 10,000 readers, calling attention to mental health problems among Asian youth. Her writing on local Chinese Americans helps promote cultural and heritage awareness. 

Sherry is married and a mother of three wonderful children. She currently lives in Chicago with her family.
