One of the very few people in this country that can attest the immediate positive impacts the freedom dividend would have for everyone. I know that in my mom there you see the freedom dividend because she had cancer and she’s in remission now. But I was her caretaker. I still am. Now, between July and August 2016, just a few months after my dad’s passing nearly last autumn, after some mystery and many weeks we kind of journalism, but also cancer, multiple myeloma. I knew immediately I was going to make my mom’s battle and recovery my whole life. I’ve been with her through every single appointment, procedure, emergency room, visit and surgery. Next will be a hip replacement and then she will need a kidney. I’m gonna be evaluated to see if I can give her one of mine so we can skip up to seven year waiting list and just get her back. Before mom’s stem cell transplant went a long day of tests. It’s like 12 hours every 10, 15, 20 thousand other testing completely whether she had the last test of the day with an MRI. It was also mom’s birthday. She was weak from the eight prior months of chemo. So I was pushed around in a wheelchair while waiting for that MRI. She got a call. She was fired from her job on Earth. When she told me she was fired, it felt like the room still in a dark shadow came over us. I thought, what the hell are we going to do? This is how people lose everything, right? We didn’t even know if she had insurance at that point. I hadn’t been working much as mom’s needs increased. And we were both tapped out of any cash we had. Her house painter was already a couple months behind and medical bills were coming in the mail every single day. As a result, I began selling any personal items. We had to make ends meet. Mom was not prepared for any of this. As most Americans are, not too many of us are overworked, underpaid, underinsured, underappreciated by the companies we work for and undervalued by our own government. We do not have the money or the time to prepare for any emergency, let alone a life threatening emergency. But I kept working, I kept trying and I was able to get some small degree of traction even before I was given the freedom dividend. But with this freedom dividend, we have been able to recover quicker and breathe a little easier. Mom, like so many, was living with just the minimum Social Security disability income. Her money would often come in and go out the same day, but usually leaving her in the red. Now she has an extra thousand dollars a month, essentially doubling their income. She no longer worries about her top priority making that house payment and all the big critical bills are mostly current. This is trickle down to me too. Since moms no longer as dependent on me have been able to recover and reinvest into my work and hobbies again, this could be anyone story. Take our names and our problem is and substitute your own. The biggest thing is the weight lifted off our shoulders. The last thing a person with a history of cancer needs is stress, anxiety or depression. We have this cushion, their security, and that just motivates me to work even harder to make things better for the both of us. Because when you working so hard, but just getting further behind, you begin to think, what’s the point? And you lose hope. Now, mom and I are home with just one of us receiving the freedom dividend. We’ve been able to turn things around for both of us. I can’t imagine if my whole towns of Iowa falls got it. The cash that would flow through the small businesses and the opportunities that would create. I look forward to the day where my family, my friends and all of you feel that relief and hope to. Yes.
